It's tough to find good Asian food in LA without having to drive all the way to the 626. But then there's Pine & Crane, Silver Lake's little Taiwanese gem.
Pine & Crane serves up real Taiwanese fare. From chilled wood ear mushrooms to beef noodle soup, the food is surprisingly on par with what's sold in Taiwan. I say "surprising" because one wouldn't expect such authentic flavors from a restaurant manned by millennial hipsters in Silverlake (as compared to hole-in-the-wall's run by old Chinese aunties). Not only is the food amazing, but the prices are also very low, with the majority of the menu at under $10.
